Communicating a Long-Held Set of Ideals
Exxon Mobil is the world’s largest publicly traded oil and gas company that has operated in Nigeria for more than 30 years. The company is one of the largest groups involved in the exploration, production and marketing of crude oil and gas in Nigeria. Exxon Mobil has been active on the African continent for more than 80 years and employs more than 6,000 people. As part of its operations, the company briefed us to help improve its communications and key messaging, especially relating to its compliance with local laws and regulations, as well as its contributions to local content development in Nigeria.
What We Did
We provided the core of the insights required by the various agencies to articulate their messaging and developed a communications campaign. The sole purpose of the campaign was to reinforce Exxon Mobil’s years-long commitment to local content development in Nigeria. Our strategy consisted of telling the simple truths about the company, sharpening our messaging by using visually stimulating evidence and examples. We explored measurable examples and beamed a searchlight on the company’s approach and initiatives supporting the development of local content in Nigeria.
Working with the groups PR Agencies and marketing groups, the result was a well-executed campaign delivered within budget and well on schedule. We also supported with group with tangible insights from the campaign in a report to help them plan for the next cycle of campaigns.
